September is going to be a crazy month for drones.
Yuneec has already released the Breeze, DJI is releasing the Mavic and now GoPro announced that the legendary Karma drone will be unveiled this month as well. The GoPro Karma is a drone that’s been in the making for about 2 years, which feels like a lifetime in the drone industry. Nobody but GoPro really knows why the Karma has taken so long, but expectations for this drone are very high. Maybe even too high. There hasn’t been a lot of leaked photos or info for the Karma, but here’s what we have so far.

Today GoPro released the details about the Karma and their new HERO5 family of cameras. Take a look at the introduction video for the Karma:
We are now just a few days from the GoPro Karma release and there’s one more teaser video to show. This time we actually get to see a glimpse of the karma as it flies off and follows a group of mountain bikers. Weather or not the drone was flying itself is unknown, but what we do know is that this blurry image of the Karma looks strikingly similar to the one that was leaked earlier this month on GoPro’s servers.
There’s also a new set of leaked images that show the new Hero 5 in detail along with the Karma controller.
A new photo has been leaked from GoPro’s website. This time we also get to see what looks like a GoPro gimbal and the new Hero 5 camera. If this really is the new Karma drone, hopefully it will fold up like the DJI Mavic because it does’t seem to be very small.
What We Know About Karma
The only completely official info we have is that GoPro’s release date for the Karma is September 19th. Other than that, any other information is purely speculation, however there are some recent photos of the Karma’s remote that give us some clues on what to expect.
The first thing I noticed with these pictures is that there’s an integrated screen, which could mean that the controller has a built in android device. The controller also seems to have an extremely rugged clamshell design, allowing you to toss it into a backpack and not worry about the antennas or control sticks.
On the front, there’s a start and stop button for starting and stoping camera moves, a pretty massive speaker, a power button, a return home button and that’s about it. On the back, you will see the famous GoPro record button, what looks like a shutter button on the same side and possibly a gimbal wheel on the other side. So far, the remote looks very simple, and I really like simple!
There’s Always a Teaser Video!
This is GoPro’s latest Karma teaser video. I’m not sure what to think about it. Does the small van signify that the Karma is going to be smaller than we thought? Was this video shot with the Karma? Maybe it’s just the beginning of a Karma Promo video. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
