Any experienced drone pilot will tell you “it’s only a matter of time before you crash”.

Just like Apple Care, DJI Care Refresh is a damage protection plan for all of DJI's newest drones.

With DJI Care Refresh, you can fly with complete confidence. It covers most of the common accidents that people have with their drones, so even when you do crash, you won’t be throwing thousands of dollars out the window. To be clear, this is not a warranty. All DJI products come with a free warranty, so if your Phantom decides to crash itself because of a software or firmware issue, they will look at the flight log files and fix your drone for free.

How DJI Care Refresh Works

When you order your drone, you will now have the choice to add DJI Care Refresh to your Spark, Mavic Pro, Phantom 3 SE, Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 4 Advanced, or Inspire 2. All of the plans are now valid for one year after activation. Once you add DJI Care Refresh to your order, you will need to give them a few details like your name, phone number and email address. After filling out your details, proceed with your order just like you normally would and you’ll be all set!

After owning your DJI drone, If you have an accident, all you have to do is contact DJI support. they will send you the shipping info, fix your drone and then send it back to you or send you a new drone (even if the accident was your fault).

What DJI Care Refresh Will Cover

Basically, the plan covers damage to the drone and some of its accessories. You can replace your drone up to two times, so in most cases you will never have to worry about crashing again. All DJI Care Refresh plans also cover water damage, so if you crash into a lake, or maybe just a swimming pool, as long as you can still send the drone back to DJI, you’ll get a new one for a small fee.

Here are the fees for replacing your drone after a crash

• Spark: $49 ($69 second time)

• Mavic Pro: $79 ($129 second time)

• Mavic Pro Platinum: $89 ($139 second time)

• Phantom 4 Pro: $99 ($149 second time)

Here are some examples of situations where DJI Care will come in handy.

If you’re out at the park and someone throws a baseball, knocking your Phantom 4 out of the sky, it’s covered. If you accidentally crash into the roof of your house while taking your first flight, it’s covered! Maybe you’re out on what seems like a perfectly normal day, but what you didn’t know is that there’s a massive amount of radio interference from a solar flare, causing your Phantom to mistake a tree for a landing site. No problem. Perhaps you’re just trying out the Follow Me mode and your Phantom 4 decides to follow you into a light poll (because it doesn’t have obstacle avoidance). Again, this isn’t a problem if you have DJI Care!

What DJI Care Will Not Cover

Intentional accidents. One example would be, If you decided to shoot a video of yourself lighting your Phantom on fire to get lots of hits on Youtube.Personal injury and/or property loss to the customer or any other people caused by the aircraft. In other words, if you hurt yourself, someone else or maybe even crash into a Ferrari , you’re still responsible for your actions.

Lost or partially lost aircraft and accessories. If you plan on flying far away and loosing your Phantom, you better be able to find the remains or it won’t be covered. Buying a GPS tracker could be a good idea for long range missions.

Replacements for individual parts. For the Mavic series and Spark, you can get individual replacements for the aircraft, gimbal, camera, battery and propellers. This means that if you have an issue with the battery, you can replace just the battery for free. For the Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 4 Advanced and Phantom 3 SE, the aircraft, gimbal, camera, and propellers are replaceable, but you can not replace just the battery for example. DJI Care Refresh also doesn’t cover the controllers for any of the drones.

Is DJI Care Refresh Worth It?

Yes. For all of the packages, pricing is only 1/10 the cost of the drone. You’re only paying a small fraction and getting the piece of mind that you can completely destroy your drone two times. There’s literally no reason why you shouldn’t get DJI care, unless you plan on only using the drone for s few days and then selling it. When you have DJI Care, you can be a little more risky and fly in ways that you otherwise wouldn’t feel comfortable doing.
